Terms and Conditions

Submission of a Booking Form will confirm the owner’s acceptance of the Terms and Conditions and their desire to progress with a booking. Bookings are not confirmed until the Deposit has been paid. The remaining balance will be payable upon collection of your dog.

You agree to provide full and detailed information in the Booking Form about your dog(s). In particular, you agree to make a full and frank disclosure or verbally of any matter, fact, or characteristic concerning your dog(s) which might impact on the care of the dog including, but not limited to, behavioural or health matters, anti-social behaviour including aggression, separation anxiety, destructive behaviour, excessive pulling on the lead, propensity to run away on walks or from the home/garden, incontinence, phobias or fears, excessive loud barking or whining etc.

When booking your dog in to Christies Retreat there must be a pre-arranged agreed time for drop off and collection. Dogs must be on a lead at all times upon arrival and departure. We accept no responsibility for loss and injury in the car park. Your agreement with Christies Retreat is upon a mutually satisfactory introduction taking place at the business premises prior to the board.

Dogs from the Same Household Sharing

Dogs coming to Christies Retreat from the same household will automatically be put together in the same room unless the customer has specifically asked for them to be separated. Customers must be aware that dogs from the same household sharing a room will be separated should any problems arise (e.g. any aggressive behaviours).

Dogs from Different Households Sharing

Customers who are happy for their dog to mix with other dogs whilst boarding at Christies Retreat must give written consent when the dog is dropped off.

Basis of Charging

We charge for the day of arrival and day of departure if not before 10.00am.

Periods of Boarding

If a dog is collected before the date of collection previously advised, we reserve the right to charge for the previous period intended. The date entered on the ‘Booking Form’ will prevail. This is because we can only take other bookings for periods that have not been booked by others. It will be highly likely that we would have turned away other prospective customers for the day/days in question.

Deposits and Cancellations

Bookings cancelled within 7 days of confirmed stay, full payment will be due.

10% Deposit on all bookings.

25% Deposit during Peak times. i.e.: School Holidays, Easter, Christmas & New Year.

10% is non-returnable in any situation.

During Peak times if cancelled in excess of 1 month, then 10% only applies i.e. 15% returned. If less than 1 month then 25% will apply and therefore is non-returnable.

Aggressive / Destructive Temperaments

We do not encourage dogs with aggressive or destructive temperaments, and we are unable to accept dogs that are subject to the terms of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991. In cases where dogs are left that prove to be aggressive towards other dogs or staff, or destructive to our facilities, we will contact you to arrange their removal. All damage caused by a dog to any area will be chargeable to the owner. There will be no refund of the boarding fees you have paid to Christies Retreat and any additional fees charged will be payable by you.

You further agree that if your dog attacks, or is involved in a fight with another dog (and/or person), causing injury to that dog (or person) you will be responsible for any losses incurred as a result including, but not limited to, payment of veterinary fees in respect of injuries to another dog caused by your dog.

Christmas, Boxing, New Years Day & other Bank Holiday Supplements

All customers will be charged a supplement for Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day and all other Bank Holidays. The supplement will be double fees for these days only. We are closed to the public on these days.

We accept Cash, Cheque or BACS. A charge of £20 will be made for any cheques returned or misrepresented.

On your dog’s arrival at the Christies Retreat we will require to see a current vaccination certificate. This must show a booster vaccination having taken place within the last 12 months and signed off by a qualified Veterinary Surgeon. The certificate must show the booster having been administered as part of a course of vaccinations. Dog Vaccinations must safeguard against the following diseases: Distemper, Parvovirus, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis and Parainfluenza.

Kennel Cough Vaccinations

All dogs must have a current Kennel Cough (Infectious Tracheobronchitis) vaccination. Your dog must have this at least 3 weeks prior to arrival at kennels. This is NOT part of your annual booster vaccination. If you are in any doubt, Kennel Cough vaccines can be identified on your vaccination card / certificate as ‘Intrac’ (which lasts for 6 months) or ‘Nobivac KC’ (which lasts for 12 months).

Notification of Medical Conditions

If your dog has a medical condition of any sort we must be notified at the time of booking. If we have not been notified of such a condition or course of medication, we reserve the right to refuse admission.

Flea Treatments

All dogs must be covered by a known flea treatment, such as ‘Frontline’, Advocate and Advotick before they are boarded. These products have varying lengths of effectiveness. Dogs that arrive with fleas will be administered with such a product and charged accordingly.

An effective Wormer, must have been administered to any dog prior to boarding. This should be taken at least a week before coming into Christies Retreat. Please check with your Veterinary Surgery on how long each product will protect your dog.

Entire Males and Unspayed Bitches

We are happy to accept bookings for unspayed bitches, however we do not accept bitches due or in season. We are happy to accept entire males, providing they are not aggressive towards other dogs.

In normal circumstances we would operate a minimum age policy of 6 months. We do not operate a maximum age policy.

Emergency Contact Numbers

On your dog’s arrival at Christies Retreat you will be asked for an emergency contact telephone number. This may be a friend, relative or neighbour who can act on your behalf, should we not be able to contact.

Whilst in our care, dogs will not be allowed visitors, as past experience has shown that this usually upsets the animal.

When you arrive at Christies Retreat you will be asked what your dog is fed. You agree to supply enough food for the duration of your dog's board. Food bowls if you wish can be left. If insufficient food is supplied at the start of the board you agree to refund the costs incurred purchasing more food.

Dogs will be generally fed in the mornings and evenings, unless owner’s instructions state otherwise on the Booking Form.

We supply bedding for dogs. We request that you bring any soft bedding that you wish your dog to have during his /her stay.

We request that you bring any toys which will help your dog to settle during his /her stay. All belongings left with the dog/dogs are left at the owner’s risk. We cannot be held responsible for damage or loss of these items, and reserve the right to discard any item due to the health & safety and hygiene condition.

Any medication required for the dog(s) will be discussed and (if agreed) added to the Booking Form.

It is our policy to exercise all dogs on a lead twice a day.

Washing / Grooming

We find that in most cases, dogs after a lengthy stay at Christies Retreat will require a wash before they go home. This can be pre-booked with our reception staff on your dog’s arrival to Christies Retreat. An additional charge will be levied for this service, the price being dependant on size / breed etc. It should be noted that washes will not be done unless you have specifically requested this service.

Veterinary Treatment

Christies Retreat will use all care to ensure the happiness, safety and welfare of your dog(s). If however your dog becomes unwell or has an accident during his/ her board we will either treat the dog at Christies Retreat or we have a close connection with our local Veterinary practice – Gill Tose @ Windlesham Village Vets. You agree to be responsible for payment of veterinary fees incurred (as well as transport fees) at the time of collection.

We do recommend that your dog is insured against sickness, accident, injury and third party liability prior to the start of the board. The booking form gives us authorisation to take your dog(s) to the Vet if necessary, whilst also confirming you will either reimburse any fees or pay the Veterinary Surgery directly, which-ever applies.

In the unlikely event of a dog passing, every attempt will be made to contact the owner. If this is not possible our vets will be contacted and arrangements will be made for collection at a cost to you.

Although we make every effort to ensure your dog is cared for to our usual high standards we cannot be liable for loss, injury or death, whether due to your dog’s behaviour or otherwise.

Dogs sharing a room do so at owner’s risk. We cannot be held responsible for any injury caused from one dog to another.

We reserve the right to update these terms and conditions as needed.
